One private managed forest land owner from the interior region will be elected to Council for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026. Council will accept nominations for this position until April 15, 2026.

The Annual Declaration form is now available for owners to report their harvesting, destroyed timber, road construction, road deactivation, and reforestation activities for 2025. The declaration is due May 1, 2026.

The Managed Forest Council is pleased to announce Pam Jorgenson, RPF as our new Executive Director, effective November 1, 2025. Pam will be taking over from Ann Donaldson, RPF, who is retiring after 20 years of service with the Council.

Council's Annual Report summarizes: Council activities for the year; statutory reporting requirements including number of managed forests and area in the program; number of inspections; and owner activity including harvesting, road building, and reforestation.

As winter approaches owners are reminded to be diligent around regulatory requirements related to road maintenance & deactivation, two forest activities that are necessary for protection of water quality and fish habitat.

Council has several mechanisms that may be used to ensure compliance with the Private Managed Forest Land Act & Regulations. Compliance mechanisms and decisions are outlined in the compliance section of this website.

Commercial thinning is increasingly used on private managed forest land for several purposes. Council has a new commercial thinning policy to clarify tree retention and reforestation obligations.
