Council is seeking forest professionals with a minimum of 8 years operational experience over a range of disciplines including road construction/ maintenance/ deactivation, harvesting, & silviculture to join our inspection team for the 2023 inspection year.

Council's Annual Report summarizes: Council activities for the year; statutory reporting requirements including number of managed forests and area in the program; number of inspections; and owner activity including harvesting, road building, and reforestation.

Council has several mechanisms that may be used to ensure compliance with the Private Managed Forest Land Act & Regulations. Compliance mechanisms and decisions are outlined in the compliance section of this website.

In response to the enactment of the Professional Governance Act and changes to the definition of practice of professional forestry, effective Sept 30, 2022 Council requires signature of a forest professional on management commitments and specified amendments.

As part of Council's responsibility for monitoring and enforcing forest practices standards, an annual inspection program is carried out to assess managed forest owner compliance with the regulatory requirements. 53 inspections are scheduled for 2022.

UPDATE: Blair Robertson, Managed Forest 177, has been re-elected by acclamation for a three-year term starting July 1, 2022. One private managed forest land owner from the coast region is to be elected to Council for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2022. Council will accept nominations for this position until April 15, 2022.

Highlights include: MFC worked closely with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development on the provincial Managed Forest Program Review; participated as a delegate at the 2020 ABCFP virtual convention; and conducted 63 inspections of managed forests to assess compliance with the Council Regulation.
