Council’s Field Practices Guide has been updated and is available online. This reference guide provides a summary of regulatory obligations under the Private Managed Forest Land Act and regulations, and example forest practices for meeting those obligations.

Council has several mechanisms that may be used to ensure compliance with the Private Managed Forest Land Act and regulations. Compliance mechanisms and decisions are outlined in the compliance section of this website.

As part of Council’s responsibility for monitoring and enforcing forest practices standards, an annual inspection program is carried out to measure owner performance. Seventy managed forests are scheduled for inspection this spring & summer.

Managed forest landowners must be aware of reforestation obligations for areas where timber has been harvested or destroyed. These areas must be reforested within set timelines in accordance with the Council Regulation.
